The Toad Ranger
January - August 2017
TX Living
Trip Information:
Kept RV in one location for most of the first year I owned it
Misc trips around DFW and to Austin
Started living in it pretty much full time 2-3 months after purchase
Parked in a friend's backyard
Set up 30A electrical connection and water hookup
Used macerator pump for waste dumping
Key observations:
The entry to the backyard where the RV parked was very tight, <6" clearance
This is where I learned several lesson about the waste tanks the hard way
RV Salesman was incorrect in telling me which drain valves were for what tanks
ALWAYS check waste valve to make sure they are closed before pulling the drain cap
In short, pulling the cap from a tank where the valve is open and only then realizing that it is the black tank makes for a rough lesson in living in an RV
Be prepared to deal with random issues that may or may not need to be fixed
There can be very little information about RV repairs online due to small volume builds and because most RV's are essentially hand-built so there is a lot of variation within similar RV's
