Our Process
We start with a Questionnaire that will provide details about the project:
Vision of the venue and voice of the audience
Understand where you want to go. There are different paths if you are interested in expanding or prefer to remain a smaller, more personal venue.
Understand what the audience goals and expectations are. Again, there are different paths if the audience is interested in a more acoustic, subtle venue vs. someplace interested in a flashy, more thunderous experience.
Understand what expectations are for sound amplification, lighting and video.
Current equipment list
Sound Board
Audio wiring (Snake, XLR cables, etc.)
Microphones
Wireless audio equipment (Headsets, Wireless mics, etc.)
Speakers
Amplifiers
Monitor system
Optimizers/Processors/etc.
Lights
Lighting controllers
Projector(s) or TV's
Computer Programs (Video, Recording, etc)
Misc. Equipment
Participant variation
Is the performing group consistent (Lead speaker, minimal musician variation) or how does it vary (different musicians every week, instrument variation)
Recording plan (audio/video)
Basic facility information
Flooring (carpeted/hard surface)
Ceiling (drop/metal frame/flat, hard surface)
Square footage (and general shape)
While all the information above is not necessary to start a project it will allow us to research options, provide remote troubleshooting assistance, and understand whether current equipment is capable or if additional equipment should be planned for.
The initial questionnaire will be followed by a conference call to review the questionnaire and discuss any open questions or concerns.
After the initial call we may schedule some time on-site to review options.
If an acceptable option is agreed to we will schedule time on-site for making the changes, training, and documentation. Depending on the scope of the project this could range from a couple days to several weeks.
We are on-call for any follow-up concerns and will schedule follow up visits to address any concerns, continuing improvements and additional training.
Our goal is to maintain an ongoing relationship and use any opportunity we have to stop by any venues we have worked on to answer any questions and make minor adjustments.
What we provide:
On-call troubleshooting
Recommendations for improvement
Could be as simple as microphones, lighting arrangement, types of wiring for video transfer, etc.
Non-electrical wiring installation
In-stage boxes
Back-of-house to stage wiring (XLR, Ethernet, Video)
Lighting (XLR, Power cords)
New equipment setup, programming and training
Written instructions (digital and printed)
Recommendations for construction, new electrical
Recommendations for flying speakers and hanging lights
Recommendations for soundboard and stage setup
What we do not provide
Construction services
Electrical changes (new built in wiring, outlets, etc.)
Flying speakers, Hanging new lights (unless mounting to existing structures or replacing existing equipment)
We prefer to work with members of a venue to make changes. Having members assist with changes significantly helps with the understanding of the equipment and allows much more cost effective improvements.
